Former Hadeba Hydroelectric Power Station
The Old Hatanashi Hydroelectric Power Plant, a registered tangible cultural property of the country, was completed in 1912 and was a large-scale power plant that supported the modernization of the Besshi Copper Mine for 59 years until 1970. is. It was built to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the late Meiji period, and its output was 3000kW, one of the largest in Japan at the time. The water necessary for power generation was drawn from a tributary of the Dozan River in the Yoshino River system on the other side of the mountain, and power was generated using the 597-meter drop, said to be the highest in the East. The building's solid brick exterior is reminiscent of European churches, and its large interior, supported by steel trusses, is notable for its original generator and Pelton water wheel. Additionally, cranes, control panels, frequency converters, and other items have been preserved, showing the era of change from the Meiji era to the Showa era.
